Division of Animal Medical Science

Pioneering New Medicine and Veterinary Medicine by Understanding the Similarities and Differences between Animal and Human Diseases

The aim of the Division of Animal Medical Science is to compare common and similar diseases (including infectious diseases) between humans and animals, and to develop innovative diagnostic and therapeutic methods that can be shared between humans and animals through the elucidation of common and different pathological mechanisms of each disease.

We will analyze clinical big data on common and similar diseases in humans and animals, including zoonotic, neoplastic, allergic, endocrine, and neurodegenerative diseases. In addition to promoting rapid clinical trials for spontaneous cases, we will develop small and medium animal disease models (mice, micro-minipigs, etc.) that accurately reproduce human and animal pathologies, and develop therapeutic agents, diagnostic methods, and medical devices that can be applied to both humans and animals.
